1. Michigan State weathered some storms

From the get-go, there seemed to be plenty of obstacles that the Spartans were going to have to overcome. The first was the lack of production from the post outside of rebounding from Carson Cooper and Jaxon Kohler and the next big obstacle was AJ Hoggard picking up two quick fouls.

In fact, Hoggard got his second foul right after the under-16 timeout and sat the remainder of the half. He ended up playing 22 minutes, but he was missing for about 75 percent of the first half. And even without the senior point guard on the floor, Michigan State managed to weather the storm, even capturing a two-point lead at the half.

And then Michigan went on a bit of a run in the second half to take a 53-47 lead and it felt like the game was on the verge of potentially going sideways for MSU, but the Spartans kept calm and weathered yet another storm.

Michigan State finished the game on a 10-0 run and held the Wolverines without a field goal for the final seven minutes.

That's how you weather a storm and prove that you can win even while playing one of your worst games of the year.
