1. It's time to go on a run

Beating Michigan is all fine and dandy, but it's what you do after taking down the Wolverines that will dictate the rest of the season.

Michigan isn't a good basketball team. The Wolverines are now 7-14 on the year and in dead-last place in the Big Ten standings. A win over your rival is nice and all, but you have to use that as fuel to go on a run through the next month, or so, of conference action.

The month of January is in the books and February presents a winnable slate of games but Michigan State needs to remain focused and play the way it's capable of. Taking care of the teams in front of them is easier said than done, but the Spartans should be favored in most, if not all, of their games in the month of February. Go on a run and improve that seeding in the NCAA Tournament.

Plus, there is a chance to pick up a Quad 1 win against Illinois at home in a couple of weeks and there are some solid Quad 2 opportunities coming up, but the Spartans have to learn to win away from home like they did against Maryland 10 days ago.

Go on a run and there's no more stressing an NCAA Tournament berth. Oh, and a double-bye in the Big Ten Tournament would be nice, too.
