It has already been a very special 2024 for former Michigan State Football head coach Mark Dantonio.

At the begin of the year, he recieved the news he was getting inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame down in Atlanta. Other great accolades have just been sprinkiling in for the all-time winningest coach in Spartan history.

The Tournament of Roses, made the news official on Wednesday that Dantonio will be also getting inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame Class of 2024. In doing so he will become just the third Michigan State athlete or coach to receive that honor.

Dantonio joins former Spartan great running back Lorenzo White, who famously was a huge key to the Spartans' 1988 Rose Bowl victory against USC. The other is Dave Kaiser, a kicker who made the game winning 41-yard field goal against UCLA back in the 1956 Rose Bowl.

Dantonio came to Michigan State to get back to the Rose Bowl and win it. He guided the Spartans to the 100th Rose Bowl on January 1, 2014, as the Spartans defeated Stanford 24-20, just 26 years after their last appearance in the granddaddy of them all.

Mark will be joined in the class by two very memorable running backs formerly from the Pac-12 that are now in the Big Ten ironically. Those are USC's Reggie Busch and Oregon's LaMichael James.

Adding this great honor, to already receiving a nod to the College Football Hall of Fame and getting his name added to the ring of honor at Spartan Stadium on Sept. 24 have made 2024 the Year of Dantonio around Michigan State.

Dantonio will officially be honored both during the 136th Tournament of Roses Parade and the CFP Quarterfinal Game at the Rose Bowl on January 1, 2025.

Congratulations once again, Coach D, and thank you for everything you did for Michigan State.
