Marcus Bingham Jr. signs new overseas contract in Israel
It's been a good couple of weeks for former Michigan State basketball stars.
First, Travis Trice was named the MVP of his Puertan Rican league. Then Tyson Walker had his best G-League performance. Following that, both Cassius Winston and Marcus Bingham Jr. signed new contracts with overseas teams.
Cassius signed a new contract this week, going from Turkey to Italy. He averaged over 14 points per game in Turkey this past season and now he'll get to showcase his talents in a new league in a new country.
As for Bingham Jr., he's staying in Israel, joining Hapoel Holon. He played for Hapoel Haifa last season.
Bingham Jr. averaged 14.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game this past season. He was able to make a name for himself as one of the best big men in the Israeli Basketball League.
Spartan fans best remember Bingham Jr. for being one of the more improved players throughout his time in East Lansing. He was expected to be a star right away, but averaged just 3.6 minutes per game as a freshman in 23 games before putting up 9.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game in just under 19 minutes as a senior. While he didn't quite live up to his potential in East Lansing, he's still remembered for being one of the top rim protectors in the Tom Izzo era.
Plus, I'm sure Spartan fans would love a guy like Bingham on the current roster -- Xavier Booker is expected to be that and more this coming season.
Michigan State fans will be rooting Bingham on as he continues to dominate in Israel.
