The excitement for Michigan State basketball is mounting.

With Moneyball about halfway done, fans are drawing conclusions about players (fair and unfair) based on their performances and Michigan State stars have been showing out. We've seen guys like Jeremy Fears Jr., Frankie Fidler, Coen Carr, Tre Holloman, and Jaden Akins dominating and making headlines during Moneyball.

It's great to see newcomers showing out as well -- like Fidler, Jase Richardson, Jesse McCulloch, Szymon Zapala, and Kur Teng.

While it's been fun to see them perform for the first time as Spartans on the court, it's always good to learn more about who they are as people off the court or why they chose Michigan State.

Michigan State's X account recently shared Richardson's intro video and who his favorite Spartan was (it wasn't his dad) and also Jesse McCulloch's introduction which featured similar questions.

On Friday, the Spartans shared Teng's intro video and he explained why he chose Michigan State.

Teng explained that the family atmosphere and coaching staff were the reasons he chose Michigan State and, just like McCulloch and Richardson, he was asked who his favorite Spartan was and -- also like Jase -- he chose Cassius Winston.

It's a common theme among players who choose Michigan State: family atmosphere. And it feels like Tom Izzo is responsible for that. It's why he always seems to land top recruiting classes.

As one of the best shooters in the 2024 recruiting class, Teng was probably drawn to Michigan State because of players like Winston who were able to showcase that elite offensive skillsets.

Teng could be the next knockdown shooter to come through East Lansing and fans are excited to see him suit up this fall and into the winter. Will he earn some legit playing time? If he plays like he's capable of, it's going to be hard for Izzo to keep him on the bench.
