Starting the season opener and first game as a Spartan as the backup, Kay'Ron Lynch-Adams waited patiently and took advantage of his workload. And Michigan State football fans have to be thrilled with what they saw from the UMass transfer on Friday night.

Lynch-Adams watched as Nate Carter struggled to get any running lanes and was hit right when he touched the ball pretty much the entire night, but then he came into the game and became a star.

Instantly, you could tell that Lynch-Adams runs with a different gear. He doesn't go down with arm tackles and he explodes through running lanes and bounces off defenders. His electric running style was arguably the difference between a 16-10 Michigan State win in the opener and an upset loss to FAU in East Lansing. Lynch-Adams' touchdown was the difference.

The newcomer rushed just nine times but finished with 101 yards and a touchdown and it felt like he was gaining 5-10 yards on every touch. Heck, he averaged 11.2 per carry thanks to a 63-yard touchdown scamper in the second quarter.

But it felt like he didn't touch the ball enough. Actually, it's true: he didn't.

While I still think Carter is the RB1 of this team and he just didn't have any holes to run through all night, the staff should've just kept feeding the hot hand with Lynch-Adams. He was the most consistent offensive performer all night long and he had just nine touches. That's somewhat unacceptable.

Now, Michigan State fans will have a two-headed monster in the backfield to look forward to watching every Saturday. Let's just hope the offensive line figures it out when Carter is in the game.

Lynch-Adams was a welcomed sight on Friday.
