Jonathan Smith comments on Nick Marsh's health
One of the biggest talking points heading into Michigan State’s game against Boston College was the fact that almost half of the Spartan’s wide receivers were out with injuries. After watching the game however it didn’t feel like that really impacted anything, but I would like to imagine at least having Nick Marsh on the field would’ve made somewhat of an impact.
Regardless of that though we all clearly would prefer to have everyone healthy.
Jonathan Smith addressed the injuries in the wide receiver room after the Spartan’s loss to Boston College and specifically mentioned Marsh and his recovery. And it sounds like some receivers will be back before we know it.
"None of those wide receiver injuries are going to be season-ending. For Nick, we are hoping sooner rather than later. Same with Glover."
- Jonathan Smith
Smith continued.
This is about the best quote we could have realistically expected from Smith about the wide receivers. Even if the unit looked OK on Saturday there’s no denying that having more options would be better, especially when it comes to Marsh who is the Spartan’s leading receiver so far this season.
Now as Michigan State enters the hardest stretch of their schedule the Spartans need to get some of their injured players back. I do think MSU can beat Ohio State this coming weekend, but I don’t think it’s possible without Marsh.
Marsh provides the ability to beat the defense over the top which not every receiver has. He has also shown that he and Aidan Chiles have been able to connect on those long throws more than once.
So hopefully Marsh is able to get back to full health before this weekend because Michigan State will need him ready to go if they want to pull off a major upset against the Buckeyes.
