Impressive showing from Michigan State football alumni ahead of Ohio State game
The Ohio State game by far was the biggest game of the season for Michigan State football. Not only because it was against the No. 3 team in the country and was a way for us to see where the team is at under Jonathan Smith, but there’s a bigger reason why this game was so meaningful.
Mark Dantonio was inducted into the Spartans' Ring of Honor.
Dantonio is arguably the greatest coach in Michigan State football history, so it would’ve been a big day no matter when this honor was bestowed upon him. But the fact that it was against Ohio State, a team he won a national championship with and regularly beat during the height of his tenure, made it all the better.
And to make Saturday that much sweeter, Dantonio’s Michigan State football alumni showed out in masses to be there to help honor their head coach.
In the above post shared by Darien Harris, you can see what appears to be at least 100 former players who are in attendance for Dantonio’s big day. That just goes to show the impact Dantonio had on the program and each player he coached.
Sure all the wins and championships were nice, but the thing that made it even nicer was the fact that Dantonio did things the right way. He never took any shortcuts, never did things for attention, and every decision he made he did so with his players at the forefront of his mind. He is the most ideal coach that you would want to send your kid away to play for, and that’s why Dantonio is one of the best of all time.
Dantonio deserves every ounce of recognition he is getting on Saturday, and this picture right here is one of the coolest recognitions he will get all day.
