Michigan State basketball’s newest Spartan Frankie Fidler appears to be doing everything he can to help get himself acclimated to his new team.

Fidler committed to Michigan State last month, but is still in Arizona going through the NBA draft process before moving to East Lansing later this summer. Fidler has already worked out with Malik Hall this summer, but now he’s been seen with another Spartan who will still be on the team this season.

According to Malik Hall’s Instagram story, Jaden Akins has flown down to Arizona to work out with him and Fidler.

Like I mentioned before, Fidler and Hall have already been working out together, but Akins joining them is a huge deal. While working out with Hall is a really cool thing to see, he won’t be on the team next season. Akins however will be, and he’ll be one of the leaders as the only returning starter from last season.

So Akins, who likely will be a captain this season, going out of his way to travel to Arizona to link up with Fidler is exactly what you want to see. It takes a lot of time for any new player to become fully comfortable with a new team, so Akins meeting up with Fidler will help speed that process up.

This picture just gets me even more excited for what the team could look like next season. There will be a lot of new faces playing extended minutes next season, and Fidler will be one of those guys. So the more he can work out with current and former Spartans, the better that is for his and the team’s future.
