Four-star legacy recruit to visit Michigan State football next week
Now that Michigan State football's first game is almost here, it's once again time to see which recruits Jonathan Smith and his staff bring in for a visit. Having top talent visit during gamedays is a very popular thing to do, and I imagine Smith will bring in a lot of his top remaining targets in the 2025 class throughout the season. He likely will bring in a handull of recruits in the 2026 class as well.
But how we about we talk about a super talented tight end in the 2027 class who just so happens to be a legacy recruit?
Four-star tight end Anthony Cartwright has announced that he will be visiting Michigan State next weekend for MSU's first game of the season against Florida Atlantic. Cartwright is one of the top players in the country coming in as the No. 48 overall player in the 2027 class according to On3. He also is the No. 4 tight end and the third ranked player from the state of Michigan as well.
Michigan State should love their chances in this recruitment because Cartwright is a legacy recruit as his father played basketball at MSU in the mid-1990s. However, even with that connection, MSU's biggest rival is the current leader in his recruitment. According to On3, Michigan currently has a 57.3 percent chance of winning Cartwright's recruitment.
Even though you never want to see that, I wouldn't put any stock into that prediction right now. Cartwright is only entering his sophomore season in high school so I doubt even he has any idea where he wants to go to school.
This will be a recruitment to pay close attention to throughout the next couple of years. Smith is doing the right thing by getting in on him early, so hopefully he and the rest of his staff can make a great impression on Cartwright next Friday.
