In just a matter of a few days, Jonathan Smith will host his first Spartan Dawg Con since taking over as head coach of Michigan State football. This event is always one of the biggest in the summer as it brings high school juniors (mainly) from across the country to East Lansing for a massive recruiting event.

Recently it was rumored that some former Spartan stars will be attending this weekend, and four of those visitors were just announced by the official Michigan State football Twitter page.

Greg Jones

First up is linebacker Greg Jones. Jones was a monster on Michigan State’s defense from 2007-2010 and was the first Spartan to be named a consensus first team All-American in back to back seasons since the 60s.

The linebacker recruits visiting this weekend should be starstruck when they meet Jones.

Mark Dell

Mark Dell is another former Spartan from 2007-2010 who was a standout wide receiver. He finished his career sixth in program history with 2,136 receiving yards and seventh in receptions with 133.

Dell is one of the least talked about standout players from the Mark Dantonio era, so I’m glad to see that he’ll be in attendance this weekend.

Edwin Baker

Everyone should remember who Edwin Baker is. The standout running back from 2009-2011 was a staple in the Michigan State backfield. Baker finished his career with 19 touchdowns and 2,293 rushing yards, which falls just short of cracking the top 10 rushing leaders in MSU history.

I would put Baker up there with the some of the better Michigan State running backs of all time, so his presence will be huge this weekend.

Johnny Adams

And for the very first time, elite cornerback Johnny Adams will be returning to Michigan State this weekend.

Adams was a three time All-Big Ten selection, including being a first team selection in 2011 and 2012. He finished his career fifth in passes defended (35), 10th in interceptions (11), and fourth in interception return yards (230).

Adams had an iconic career at Michigan State, and I myself am extremely excited to see him return to East Lansing.
