It's hype season for Michigan State football and hearing the players and coaches talk up fellow teammates and rising underclassmen is what we've been fiending for all summer.

Jonathan Smith has spoken highly of his team and he's already shouted out guys like Nick Marsh, Jaron Glover, and Alex VanSumeren but it's always good to hear players talk about their fellow teammates and potential breakout stars to watch for.

Veteran linebacker Darius Snow was one of the guys who talked up a teammate on Monday following practice, saying that a freshman linebacker was standing out.

Snow spoke highly of Brady Pretzlaff and said that he intercepted a pass during Saturday's scrimmage.

Pretzlaff is one of the players who fans should be excited for because he almost wasn't a Spartan even though Mel Tucker wanted him. The former head coach recruited him heavily before he chose Joe Rossi and Minnesota but when his defensive coordinator was hired by Smith in East Lansing, he decided to decommit from the Gophers and pick Michigan State.

Pretzlaff was the No. 63 linebacker in the 2024 class and the 17th-best Michigan prospect from Gaylord and he has a bright future ahead of him. Clearly his teammates agree.

We've seen Snow make some predictions for teammates in the past that he believed were going to break out and I believe one of them was Malik Spencer -- he's now a projected starter on defense and someone who NFL scouts are keeping a close eye on.

Michigan State fans can breathe easier knowing that Pretzlaff is playing well in his first fall camp and Rossi feels like the perfect coach to get the most out of him and the rest of the defense.
