Will Tom Izzo reach another Final Four soon?

One thing on my mind every offseason is when Tom Izzo will decide to retire. It’s hard not to considering he is 69 years old and has accomplished everything possible in college basketball.

The one thing however that I think is keeping him motivated to continue coaching is his pursuit of a second national title. Many coaches are able to win one, but winning that second title is what separates the good coaches from the elite coaches.

And while I still consider Izzo elite regardless there’s no denying that a second national championship would do wonders for his legacy.

One college basketball expert recently made a prediction about how he thinks Izzo’s career will end and what he believes Izzo will accomplish before he decides to retire, and this is a prediction that I think will for sure happen before Izzo ever decides to retire.

Now don’t get me wrong, this by no means is a bold prediction considering how often Izzo has gotten to the Final Four throughout his career, but I think I speak for all Michigan State fans that we want more than just a Final Four. We crave another National Championship out of Izzo before he’s done.

Unfortunately for us Rapheal Davis didn’t go as far as predicting that Izzo will accomplish that. It also is unfortunate the next thing that Davis said because he thinks Izzo would call it quits once he does make another Final Four.

In all honesty I agree that this is probably the most likely scenario for when Izzo does decide to retire. It’s been five years now since Izzo has brought Michigan State to a Final Four and while that really isn’t that long for the average college basketball program it is for Izzo, so I think he will definitely want to prove he can get back there before he decides to retire. I just hope when he does get there that he wins it all.

And if he does win it all I wouldn’t be upset if he decided to retire right away, because that would make for one of the most legendary exits from a head coach in college basketball history.
