Coen Carr is once again doing Coen Carr things.

Anyone who follows college basketball knows just how special Carr’s athleticism is. So much so that it’s difficult for him to do anything that really surprises us anymore.

That however wasn’t the case at Moneyball on Thursday night when the Michigan State star showed off his elite athleticism in a new way.

Carr has made countless highlight plays since coming to East Lansing last year, and I don’t see that stopping anytime soon.

Towards the end of Thursday night’s game, the team’s were more or less just putting on a show for the fans in attendance. That’s when Carr did something that most people (even professional athletes) can’t do and dunked the ball while jumping over someone.

He didn’t just jump over any average Joe however, he jumped over another basketball player who looks to be taller than Carr.

Now I know a play identical to this will likely never happen in a game, but this just demonstrates once again what he brings to the Michigan State team. Carr likely will always be the most athletic player on the court no matter who MSU is playing, and that’s something the Spartans can routinely use to their advantage. They can exploit his athleticism in transition and get him in obvious mismatches as well. And with a little more practice, Carr could even use his athleticism to become an elite defender as well.

But to make things even better, Carr has been showcasing an all-around improved offensive game so far at Moneyball. So far this summer, Carr has scored 28 and 35 points in his team’s two games. This includes three made 3-pointers in his first game alone. A lack of a jump shot is one of the biggest reasons Tom Izzo didn’t play him last year, but that doesn’t appear to be an issue anymore.

Now while his improved offensive game is the most important thing, it’s still awesome seeing him show off his athleticism. That’s the one thing that makes him special, so the more he can exploit that the better.
