Kicker: Brett Swenson

Moving on to special teams we have Brett Swenson at kicker.

Swenson was the most automatic kicker that we ever saw during Dantonio’s tenure as his career make percentage was an astonishing 78 percent. This percentage also is No. 2 all time in Michigan State history, behind only Paul Edinger who played in the 90s.

Swenson is also No. 2 on the all-time made field goals list as well as No. 2 on the all time Michigan State scoring list as well.

Swenson excelled nationally as well as he was a two time selection to the All-Big Ten second team. He also was named a freshman All-American after his first season at Michigan State as well.

Kickers never get enough credit to a football team, but Swenson deserves as much credit as anyone to the success that Michigan State saw during his career. Swenson was never on one of Dantonio’s Big Ten championship teams, but he was part of the group that laid foundation for the future title winning teams. And Swenson was a big part of that thanks to his impressive career.
