Safety 2: Kurtis Drummond

The second safety I'm selecting is someone who played alongside Lewis for a few years in Kurtis Drummond.

Drummond spent five years in East Lansing from 2010-2014. Not only did he find a lot of team success on the field, but he had one of the better all around defensive careers in recent Michigan State history.

Throughout his career, Drummond totaled 233 tackles including 14 for loss. He also recorded an astonishing 12 interceptions including four in each of his final two seasons. Drummond also accounted for 33 pass defenses, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries during his career as well.

Drummond first truly broke out on the scene during his sophomore season in 2012, but it was 2013 when the college football world recognized him as a superstar. As a junior Drummond was a first team All-Big Ten selection and an honorable mention All-American. Then with all the hype going into his senior season, he performed even better. In 2014 Drummond once again was a first team All-Big Ten selection and he won Big Ten Defensive Back of the year. But to top it all off, Drummond was also a first team All American this season as well.

Careers don't get much better than Drummond's, and that's why he was a fairly easy selection for me at safety.

Next up are my two special team selections for the best kicker and punter in the Mark Dantonio era.
