Anyone miss the glory days of Michigan State football that was the Mark Dantonio era? So many great moments happened while he was in charge as we all got to watch the Spartans rise to the top of college football.

Three Big Ten titles, a Rose Bowl, a Cotton Bowl, a College Football Playoff appearance, and countless other big wins all happened in such a short amount of time that it almost doesn’t seem fair that we got to experience it all.

It obviously takes a full team effort to accomplish all of those things, but I don’t think anyone would deny that it was Michigan State’s defense leading the way. The offense was still great during this stretch, but MSU’s defenses were regularly one of the best in the nation.

With that comes a lot of elite players on the defensive side of the ball, which makes what I’m about to do extremely difficult. But here is my take on the all time defensive starters from the Dantonio era.

Stay tuned at the end of this post as I’ll also make my pick for the starting kicker and punter from the Dantonio era as well.
