In case you missed it on Thursday, Aidan Chiles went viral on social media after he made a bold prediction ahead of their week one matchup against Florida Atlantic.

When asked about this matchup and his outlook on Michigan State’s season as whole, Chiles said, “If you bet, take the over.”

This quote was picked up by nearly every major college football network and Twitter account causing millions of people to see this quote. While many thought Chiles was talking about their upcoming game against FAU, Chiles later clarified he was actually referring to taking the over on Michigan State’s 4.5 win total set by Vegas.

But pretty much everyone thought Chiles was talking about the FAU game, and it turns out thousands of people immediately went to the sportsbook of their choice to take Chiles’ advice.

ESPN shared how much the betting lines have changed in Michigan State’s game against FAU since this comment. According to ESPN, 84 percent of bets placed on their sportsbook ESPNBet since 3 p.m. ET on Thursday have been on the over in this game. This is compared to 71 percent of bets actually being on the under before these comments.

The overall over/under for the game has also gone up from 46.5 points to 47.5 points.

Sportsbooks adjust their lines all the time, but rarely do you see it happen in response to one players comments, especially when that player only said six words.

Now while it’s been proven that Chiles wasn’t talking about the FAU game at all, I still hope Michigan State goes out and wins convincingly. The Spartans could very well be on the wrong end of a lot of jokes if they don’t, so let’s hope things don’t go that route.

And if Michigan State can dominate FAU that will only increase their confidence going forward. A lot is riding on this game now, so hopefully Michigan State can get the job done.
