Michigan State football is officially one week away and now more than ever is the time to call your shot for the upcoming season. How many wins will MSU get? What games will they cover the spread? Who will be the breakout players for Michigan State this fall? Will they pull any upsets?

Now’s the perfect time to make all of these predictions and see how they hold up this season.

While us fans look ahead to the entire season, the team on the other hand is focusing solely on their week one opponent. The Florida Atlantic Owls come to East Lansing looking to shock the world in what would likely be one of the bigger upsets of the season. And according to Vegas, they actually have a decent chance to do so.

As of today Michigan State is only favored to win by 11.5 points. That is still a lot of points, but usually you expect to see that number a lot higher when going up against a group of five opponent.

Now I won’t tell you how to bet your money, but Michigan State star quarterback Aidan Chiles, on the other hand, will.

"If you bet, take the over."

OK, maybe listening to the starting quarterback isn’t the wisest decision in the world either because what else is he supposed to say? Of course, he’s always going to be on himself and his team. But you absolutely have to love the confidence he is showing here.

Most players like to go the route of giving the standard answers heading into the season so they don’t give their opponent any bulletin board material. But that’s not what Chiles is doing. He is calling his shot and daring Florida Atlantic to come to East Lansing to try and prove him wrong.

We’ll get to find out in one short week how the first game under Jonathan Smith goes, but if it goes the way Chiles expects I think we’ll have a lot of happy Michigan State fans leaving Spartan Stadium late Friday night.
