Aidan Chiles had one of the best bounce back performances I’ve seen

Michigan State football quarterback Aidan Chiles had quite the bounce back game in the Spartans' win over Maryland on Saturday. After a rough start against FAU the week prior, Chiles put all that behind him and lit up the Maryland defense for 363 passing yards and three touchdowns.

Chiles was far from perfect as he did throw three interceptions, but that honestly just makes me more excited for how much better he can be. Also adding in the fact that he’s only 18 years old shows that he’s only going to get better from here.

The best part about Chiles’ play on the field was that he was effective in multiple ways. He was a lot smarter in his decision making on when to throw the deep ball versus throwing the easy check down to help move the chains. Speaking of deep balls, Chiles finally connected on two to Nick Marsh which was something he failed to do against FAU. Chiles was even able to pick up some key yards with his legs which we didn’t see in week one either.

The improvement Chiles showed from Week 1 to Week 2 is night and day, and that came against a much better team in Maryland as well. If Chiles played this well against FAU then who knows how much more Michigan State would’ve won by.

Chiles’ talent is so clearly there that all the mistakes he made doesn’t even bother me that much. We have to remember this is only his second collegiate start, just imagine how much better he’ll be by the end of the season let alone in a couple years.

The sky is the limit as long as Chiles is under center at Michigan State. And as he ages and gets older I think we’re only going to be become more and more pleased with what we see from him.
