Michigan State football has a lot of work to do in their 2025 recruiting class. They currently sit at only five commits in the class and are No. 17 in the Big Ten, so this summer is extremely important for Jonathan Smith and his staff as they look to add some high level recruits to the class.

The importance of building the 2025 class however hasn’t stopped the staff from looking further into the future. In fact, one of the top prospects in the 2026 class was just in East Lansing and was offered by the staff.

Brock Harris is a five-star tight end in the 2026 class. According to 247Sports composite rankings, he is the No. 3 tight end in his class and the No. 24 overall player. Hailing from Saint George, Utah, Harris is the top player from the state of Utah as well.

As with any five-star player, many top programs are already pursuing Harris. He already holds 35 offers including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, and countless others. But as it stands today, I think Michigan State has a chance.

Harris being in the 2026 class means his recruitment won’t ramp up until next year, which is when he’ll take his official visits. So his recent visit to Michigan State was an unofficial visit, meaning he had to pay to travel to East Lansing. So a kid from Utah paying for his entire trip to MSU is a big deal.

But to take it one step further, he did this without even having an MSU offer. Sure he probably assumed he’d be offered by the staff during his visit, but he decided to come to Michigan State before even being offered. That tells me that Harris has some serious interest in MSU.

His recruitment has a long ways to go, but as it stands today I would say Michigan State has a chance even if it feels slim. Let’s hope Smith can work his magic, because it’s been awhile since MSU’s had a five-star player in the program.
