Just a few days after taking a surprise official visit to Bloomington, Bryson Tucker has committed to Indiana. This is one of the toughest blows to Michigan State basketball on the trail in a while.

Although the Spartans were right there in the mix for Tucker throughout his quiet recruitment, he had his sights set on Kansas and the G-League Ignite. When the latter shut down, it felt like Michigan State was in a good spot to land him, but for some reason, the recruitment was drawn out. Maybe he was just looking for the right offer and Indiana was just that.

Tom Izzo will likely close up shop on the three-man 2024 class with Jesse McCulloch, Kur Teng, and Jase Richardson, now looking ahead to the 2025 cycle and the transfer portal.

You have to hand it to Mike Woodson, though. This is the second straight offseason in which every Michigan State basketball fan wanted a certain player (last year it was Kel'el Ware) and the former NBA head coach swooped in and landed him almost immediately. He made quick work on this recruitment and surely Tucker got a nice NIL package.

You can't hate Michigan State's current recruiting class as it's ranked No. 14 in the country with Richardson (No. 32 overall), Teng (No. 48 overall), and McCulloch (No. 134 overall) all signed.

Now Izzo will turn his attention to the transfer portal that he loves so much (sarcasm). He'll likely need to add a transfer wing and big man this offseason, assuming that the Spartans have a couple of open scholarships. This all depends on the decisions of AJ Hoggard and Mady Sissoko.

Tough recruiting loss here, though. Tucker won't be fun to face in the Big Ten next year.
