3. Jack Velling, TE (Oregon State transfer)

Brian Wozniak might be one of the most underrated assistants on Jonathan Smith's staff and Jack Velling's growth is a prime example of why that is.

Not only has Wozniak developed NFL tight ends, but he's turned Velling into one of the best in the country in just two years. In fact, he had 16 catches for 281 yards and three touchdowns as a freshman in 2022 and one-upped that in 2023 with 29 catches for 438 yards and eight touchdowns. I have a feeling he's going to out-do that career year in 2024 with the Spartans.

Velling already has familiarity with this offense and a connection with Aidan Chiles so I'm expecting big numbers from the new starting tight end. Plus, Michigan State hasn't had an elite tight end since Josiah Price and it feels like he's going to change that.

The Spartans will need some pass-catchers to step up and Velling is going to do just that.
