2. Jack Velling, TE (Oregon State transfer)

Oh look, another Oregon State transfer.

Jack Velling was one of the best tight ends in the country this past season, catching 29 passes for 438 yards and eight touchdowns. His production was impressive and I really only see that improving with Aidan Chiles with him as his quarterback and the familiarity that this connection brings. Add in the fact that he has his tight ends coach with him and you have a guy ready to push for an All-Big Ten team.

Michigan State hasn't quite had an elite tight end since Josiah Price nearly a decade ago and while Maliq Carr showed flashes, it was never consistent. Velling will bring consistency.

Don't believe me? Just look at his freshman numbers. He finished with 16 catches for 281 yards and three scores and improved on that in year two. That consistency and improvement will continue this year and I would be shocked if he finished with fewer than 500 receiving yards and 8-10 touchdowns.

Velling will be Chiles' safety valve and one of the most reliable ones in the Big Ten, at that.
