2. Create and cement Michigan State’s culture

Michigan State’s culture is potentially the biggest thing that needs fixing, in my opinion. Even though the previous staff is no longer employed, the negative impact they had on MSU’s culture is still being felt today around the country.

This is another thing that needs fixed before Jonathan Smith will start recruiting at a high level.

Smith first needs to figure out what culture he wants the program to have at Michigan State. Thankfully that step is already complete and the team loves what he’s done in creating it.

Now it’s a matter of cementing their program’s culture on a national scale. That unfortunately can’t be done overnight and will take some time. But as more and more recruits visit campus and the more public interviews Smith and his staff do, the public’s opinion of Michigan State’s culture will slowly change.

And once that happens, I think we’ll find that it will be much easier for the staff to recruit higher level prospects.
