2. Jaden Akins needs to be better

I struggled coming up with a title for this section because Jaden Akins quite literally was nonexistent in Michigan State’s first game.

Akins only scored one point and was 0-for-11 from the field including 0-for-6 from 3-point range. He also only had two rebounds and one assist during the game as well.

Now like I said already, I won’t overreact to anything positive or negative from this first game, but Akins has me worried.

Akins is a senior leader and will likely be a captain this season as well. He also will be a starter every game. So what we can’t have from a player of that caliber with his expectations is a complete no show performance.

The one positive from this is that he had this ugly game during a game that doesn’t really matter. So hopefully this was just caused from Akins not being fully adjusted after the long overseas flight and we won’t see anything close to this from him again all year.
