While Michigan State football's defensive side of the ball loaded with young talent, there are plenty of upperclassmen who decided to stick around, some for quite a few coaching changes.

With what looks like a knowledgeable coach steadying the ship, the defense, especially the backfield, looks to round into form. Defensive coordinator Joe Rossi comes with a strong resume and should be able to get the most out of these players.

Here are three that have the potential to make a leap this year and hear their names in Green Bay for the 2025 NFL Draft.

3. Angelo Grose, DB

While some may say he's undersized, there's no question that Angelo Grose has plenty of experience and is a tackling machine.

With 35 career starts under his belt, Grose was thrown into the action early, playing in all seven games as a freshman in 2020, starting four of them. He has played and started in almost every game since. He has already posted six games with tackles in double-digits.

In his career, he's also had 18 pass breakups and three interceptions on teams that rank in the basement of NCAA's passing defenses. Throw in eight tackles for loss, and it's clear that Grose can be a complete ball player with the right coaches developing him.

Another positive for Grose is his versatility starting at both safety and nickelback in his years at Michigan State. That type of versatility and knowledge of multiple positions will get him noticed by NFL teams in such a pass-heavy league.
