Michigan State basketball has entered their last week of Moneyball for the summer. While that is sad because we won’t get to see them in action much anymore until the season rolls around, it does mean we are that much closer to the regular season and their exciting trip overseas this summer.

A few guys really stepped it up on Tuesday at Moneyball, and it was mainly the Spartans' role players this time. So let’s dive in with my three takeaways from the ninth night of Moneyball.

Click here for a recap from last week’s Moneyball action.

1. Gehrig Normand gets hot from deep

Gehrig Normand has been an interesting player to watch this summer. Last season Normand redshirted all season long but I kind of wish he didn’t.

Normand potentially is the best 3-point shooter on the team, so it was hard to not see him on the floor when the team struggled so much from deep last season. But now that his redshirt season is behind him we can look forward to Normand finally lighting it up from deep in the Breslin Center.

And that’s what he’s continuing to prove he can do this offseason.

Tuesday night at Moneyball, Normand scored 21 points including four 3-pointers. That’s the exact output Michigan State needs from him this season.

Now we all know everyone scores less during the season than at Moneyball, so we do have to scale his scoring expectations back some. But Michigan State will be in great shape this year if Normand can occasionally score eight or nine points with a couple threes each night.
