Moneyball is almost at its end as Thursday night was night eight of 10 for the summer. So far the theme in my Moneyball takeaways has been Michigan State basketball players doing extremely well, from the newcomers all the way to the veterans.

However, Thursday night was potentially the worst night of the summer so far.

But before we get to the negatives, let's give a shoutout to the incoming freshman who played very well on Thursday.

Click here to catch up on my Moneyball takeaways from night seven earlier this week.

1. Jase Richardson has another breakout performance

Incoming freshman Jase Richardson had himself another monster night at Moneyball on Thursday. Richardson has been pretty solid all summer long and has also had really great nights scoring the ball including 34 and 42 points. Those totals however came a few weeks ago. Since then Richardson has been playing good basketball, just nothing spectacular.

That changed on Thursday, however, when he scored an impressive 29 points.

Almost all of those points came from inside the three point line as he made just one 3-pointer and did not hit a free throw, so Richardson really showed off his mid range game for one of the first times.

Richardson will only be a reserve player for Michigan State off the bench this season, but if he is capable of being this deadly from the mid range then he will definitely earn plenty of playing time during the year.
