2. Be more creative in the run game

The running game against Florida Atlantic wasn't terrible, especially when Kay'ron Lynch-Adams got the ball, but I still think it can be much better. In my opinion, the play calls in the run game were too vanilla. The staff called way too many runs up the middle instead of spicing it up with some outside runs or even a little trickeration.

Now I'm not saying MSU should move away from the more simple runs up the middle entirely, but I do think they need to call more of a variety. Call a reverse or two, run the option with Chiles who is an effective runner, do something unique to keep the defense on their toes.

The best part about keeping the defense on their toes like this in the run game is that it will also make the passing game much more effective. Calling a variety of run plays will make a perfectly timed play action pass almost impossible to stop.

So more creativity in the run game will help the entire offense operate more efficiently which in turn should help Michigan State score more than 16 points this time around.
