3 keys to victory for Michigan State football vs. FAU
2. Dominate both lines of scrimmage
One way that Michigan State can absolutely guarantee a victory on Friday night is by dominating both lines of scrimmage. This is something that MSU will be expected to do against a team like Florida Atlantic, but it’s one thing to expect it and it’s another to actually do it.
Michigan State has struggled in the trenches on both sides of the ball in recent years, so any amount of confidence they can build this game will be helpful. Especially with all the new faces on both lines, figuring out a way to be effective early on will be critical.
If Michigan State can dominate the line of scrimmage on defense then I don’t see FAU being able to score more than 10 points this game. Especially considering the Owls have a dual-threat quarterback in Cam Fancher, being able to take away the run game while also giving him little time to pass the ball will help stop him immensely.
Then you have the Michigan State offense who has two dominant running backs in Nate Carter and Kay’Ron Lynch-Adams. If the line can give them just a little crease they’ll be able to take advantage.
And finally we have Aidan Chiles. I have full faith he’s going to be great for Michigan State this season, but I’d love for him to have a clean pocket and barely get touched by the Florida Atlantic defense in his first start of his college career.
So if Michigan State can dominate both lines of scrimmage like they should then this game will be a blowout fast.
