3 key position battles to watch during Michigan State basketball's trip to Spain

3. Where does Coen Carr fit in?

Now I know this isn't necessarily a position battle, but Coen Carr will be an interesting player to watch over these three games. One college basketball expert has gone as far as to predict that Carr will be a starter for Michigan State this season, but I'm not convinced that will end up being the case.

Before Carr will earn significant playing time, let alone become a starter, he needs to show improvement on defense and shooting the ball. His athleticism will always get him on the floor, but these two things need to improve drastically from last year if he's going to start playing a lot.

So how much playing time will Carr get in these games and will he actually be one of the starters for them? Will we see him showcase a solid jump shot to go along with his backboard-shattering dunks?

Moneyball this summer didn't help answer any of these questions, but these three games will go a long way in determining how impactful Carr will be for Michigan State during his sophomore season.
