3. Pull off an upset

Now I know I just got done saying that Michigan State doesn't need to beat the best teams on their schedule, but I still want the Spartans to beat one of them. Just imagine if Michigan State goes to Oregon or Michigan and is able to come away with a win. Or better yet, imagine MSU beating the Buckeyes at home who may just have the best roster in the country.

A win against one of these teams (or even against Iowa who most think will be much better than MSU) will go a long ways for the program's future.

This will tell every team that they have to take Michigan State seriously. They won't be able to just show up and win like they could the last few years. This will also show everyone that MSU might just be a serious contender to win the Big Ten in the coming years as well.

Now I won't call this season a failure if Michigan State doesn't pull off a big upset, but if the Spartans can make a bowl game, be competitive in every game and pull off just one upset, I think we all will be extremely excited for the future of the program under Smith.
