Michigan State is coming off a disappointing 16-10 win against Florida Atlantic in which none of my bold predictions for the game came true. But that won't discourage me from trying again this week.

If MSU is going to beat Maryland on Saturday their offense will have to be much improved, so that is what I am going to focus my predictions on this week.

So let's dive in and make some bold predictions once again as the Spartans get set to open Big Ten play against the Terps.

1. Nate Carter eclipses 100 yards rushing

Nate Carter was a little bit of a disappointment against Florida Atlantic last weekend. To be fair a lot of it wasn't his fault because the offensive line rarely gave him any chance to be successful, but there's no denying that more was expected from him last Friday.

Carter finished the game against FAU with 48 rushing yards on 19 carries. Nineteen is a lot of carries and more than enough for him to hit my prediction of Carter eclipsing 100 yards rushing against Maryland.

The difficult thing with this prediction is Carter's running mate Kay'Ron Lynch-Adams hwo did reach 100 yards last week and looked very good in doing so. Lynch-Adams will likely steal some carries from Carter this week, but I still think Michigan State will want to get Carter going and show that last week was an outlier.

So I think Carter will finish the game against Maryland with at least 100 rushing yards, 107 if we want be specific.
