Michigan State football vs. Florida Atlantic may be one of the most anticipated opening games in a season for the Spartans in quite some time. Spartan fans' excitement is at an all-time high with all the new faces and Jonathan Smith beginning his tenure Friday night, especially after the tumultuous ending to last year.

Part of that excitement comes from the unknown of what Michigan State will look like this season. In my head, there’s an equal chance that MSU dominates this game against FAU while also recognizing the chance of a massive upset.

All that unknown makes predicting what’s going to take place extremely difficult, but that’s what I’m about to do with my three boldest predictions for Michigan State’s first game Friday night.

1. Michigan State’s defense forces four turnovers

It’s been quite some time since Michigan State has had a dominant defense. Don’t worry, I’m not crazy enough to predict this team will be dominant defensively this season, but I think they’re going to surprise a lot of folks with a dominant showing against Florida Atlantic.

One of the only ways for Florida Atlantic to stay in this game is if they win the turnover battle, but I’m predicting they won’t even stand a chance in that battle. I’m guessing Michigan State will have a turnover or two of their own, but they won’t compare to the amount that FAU will have.

I’m predicting four turnovers from FAU, with two of them being interceptions, one strip sack, and a muffed punt.

I may have to head to the casino if that detailed of a prediction comes true.
