3 bold predictions for Michigan State football’s 2024 season
3. Nick Marsh hits 1,000 yards receiving
I haven’t been this high on a true freshman in quite some time, but that’s how legit I think wide receiver Nick Marsh is.
Marsh is the Spartan’s highest-ranked player in their 2024 class, and I think he’s going to show that this year. Everyone has been raving about how impressive Marsh has been all fall camp, so to me that indicates that he’s in line for a lot of playing time this season. However, Michigan State doesn’t have many veterans in their wide receiver room, so I actually think Marsh is going to be a starter this season.
Even if that is the case, hitting the 1,000-yard mark as a receiver is very difficult to do. Jayden Reed is the last to do so for Michigan State in 2021 when he barely eclipsed that mark with 1,026 yards. Before Reed it was Tony Lippett and Aaron Brurbridge who did it in back to back years in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
So while this seems nearly impossible for a true freshman to accomplish, we do have to factor in that Aidan Chiles will be throwing him the ball, and my expectations for the new quarterback are even higher. So combine both of their abilities with the fact that Marsh should see a lot of playing time and I think he could surprise the college football world with a breakout freshman season.
