Miles Bridges puts Hornets on his back in return to home state

Former Michigan State basketball star Miles Bridges made a return to his home state of Michigan this past weekend to face the Detroit Pistons.

Bridges' Charlotte Hornets team was already shorthanded coming into the contest with both LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller out of the lineup. So Miles had plenty of work to do.

Despite the missing players, Bridges didn't let it hurt his mindset.

He showed out at Little Caesars Arena, as he pretty much put the Hornets on his back. It was a spectacular showing for Bridges as he finished the game with 30 points and nine rebounds.

For a while it looked like his effort was going to help the 13-37 Hornets knock of the Pistons who are deep in the playoff hunt. It was all for naught as Detroit pulled away late for a 112-102 victory.

Still, to see Bridges be so productive especially back in his old stomping grounds, was special.

With all the injuries it certainly provides a position for Bridges to show why he can be a focal point for the Hornets. He's certainly going to have to keep brining it the rest of the season. It's pretty remarkable how many guys are out of the lineup for Charlotte.

Bridges has been on pretty strong stretch of games. He's also averaging 19.5 points per game this season which is good for 38th in the entire NBA. That's an impressive stat. He's just another Spartan like former teammate Jaren Jackson Jr. or even Max Christie who are having career years.

It certainly proves that Izzo can still produce NBA talent. No matter what others say. Sure, Bridges has had his dark days in recent memory, but it's been a good 2024-25 campaign for the seventh-year NBA player.
