A year ago, Michigan State began the season in the top five thanks to the loaded roster it returned with guys like Tyson Walker, AJ Hoggard, and Malik Hall leading the way.
Unfortunately, the season didn't pan out like the Spartans had planned.
Guys like Hoggard and Mady Sissoko left the program for the transfer portal and Walker and Hall graduated and went the professional route. Unfortunately, neither was drafted but both have had opportunities in the G-League that they're trying to take advantage of.
Walker was with the Suns as an undrafted free agent and Hall ended up with the Hornets but just made his first move on Friday as the Motor City Cruise (a Detroit Pistons G-League affiliate) acquired him.
This is a big-time move for Hall who will be back with the organization in the state that he played college ball in. He'll likely have a lot of fans of the Cruise rooting him on and it could be an opportunity for him to make some noise and be brought up to the NBA. The Pistons are playing really well now, but if he proves himself with the Cruise, he could earn himself a two-way deal.
How did Hall do this season with the Greensboro Storm? He only played in nine games and averaged 4.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 56 percent from the floor. He didn't make a single three and shot just 53 percent from the free throw line.
It'll be interesting to see if he gets more playing time with the Cruise. It'll be easy to root him on.
