If you have some deep pockets, you’ll be able to take in some of the most anticipated Sweet 16 matchups in the history of the NCAA Tournament this weekend. Friday’s Duke vs St. John’s and Michigan State vs UConn games will be hard to get tickets for.
According to the numbers, the East Region is responsible for the most expensive tickets ever.
That’s right, if you want to watch Michigan State vs UConn or Duke vs St. John’s, you’ll be paying nearly $500 for the cheapest prices. A regular ticket could be pushing $1,000 which means you’d be paying for the most expensive Sweet 16 games of all time.
The East Regional (Duke vs. St. John's + UConn vs. Michigan State) is now the most EXPENSIVE Round of 16 ticket EVER. 😳🔥

Is the steep ticket price warranted? Probably when you consider there are three blue bloods along with a coaching legend in one place. Duke, Michigan State, and UConn are all in that blue bloods conversation, and Rick Pitino is one of the best to ever do it.
This region has Pitino, Tom Izzo, Dan Hurley, and Jon Scheyer — talk about loaded.
There are also some elite players like Cameron Boozer, Zuby Ejiofor, and Jeremy Fears Jr. Heck, Tarris Reed even nearly had a 30-point, 30-rebound game in the first round.
This region is loaded from top to bottom from programs, to coaches, to players. Seeing these matchups in person may as well be a Final Four in itself. All of these teams are good enough to make the Final Four, but only one is going to survive the weekend.
Will it be Izzo and the Spartans?
The East is loaded, but winnable for Michigan State
The East Region is absolutely loaded with talent and coaching prowess, but Michigan State should feel good about its chances against the three others.
Michigan State already faced UConn in an exhibition game and Duke back in December, and both games were decided by a total of 13 points. Michigan State can absolutely hang with these two teams and Izzo has beaten Pitino in the Elite Eight before.
Izzo has won loaded regions before, and I wouldn’t even say this is one of the five toughest he’s seen, although it’s right up there.
You have to like Michigan State’s chances to make another Final Four.
