It's been a big week for fans of EA Sports College Football 26 as the franchise released its next cover as well as the trailer and some new tidbits in the upcoming game.
When the cover was released, however, Michigan State fans felt a little slighted that teams like Kennesaw State, Air Force, App State, Indiana, Army, Kansas State, Toledo, Navy, Iowa, and Tulane were represented on the regular or deluxe covers but the Spartans were nowhere to be found.
Sure, Michigan State has been mediocre for three years now, but the program is considered one of the top 25 all time in the sport and the omission of the Spartan logo was disrespectful.
Not so fast (in my best Lee Corso voice).
While Michigan State wasn't visible on either of the covers, the plan was to have the Spartan logo on the regular cover next to Auburn and USC. Unfortunately, it was covered up by Ryan Williams and Jeremiah Smith as all we saw was a sliver of the white Spartan head on the green background -- look next to Smith's knee.
No, this shouldn't make any of us feel better, but it's the thought that counts, right? I mean, USC has the same exact gripe on the regular cover as Smith's entire body is covering their logo. The Trojans are, however, represented on the deluxe edition cover by Reggie Bush.
One day Michigan State will finally make a cover of an EA Sports College Football game and we won't have to act excited to be included like Mike Wazowski of Monster Inc. when he "sees" himself on TV and on the cover of a magazine.
Again, I guess it's the thought from EA Sports that counts.
