If we thought the last few coaching carousels have been wild, buckle up, folks. There's already a blue blood looking for a new head coach as North Carolina parted ways with Hubert Davis on March 24, and Michigan State's biggest rival might be affected.

Ten or 15 years ago, Tom Izzo's name would be mentioned among the candidates for the North Carolina job, had it opened up when he was in his 50s. He was rumored as a candidate for coaching job in his 60s as well. Everyone remembers when he almost left Michigan State for the NBA.

Now, Michigan fans are feeling what Michigan State fans felt for years when Izzo was dominating college basketball in his 50s and early 60s.

According to college basketball analyst (and in this case insider) Matt Norlander of CBS Sports, he was given a list of names that North Carolina has apparently put together as its top candidates to replace Davis. One of the first names on the list is Dusty May.

While I think this is incredibly unlikely considering Michigan can probably match whatever number North Carolina throws his way, but he might find a blue blood more appealing.

But an interview he did for a podcast earlier this week didn't exactly make it sound like May was saying "no" to inevitable rumors about his name being mentioned for job openings. The whole answer to the question of "is Michigan your dream job?" was interesting because he avoided it while also answering it. It's hard to tell where his head's at, but he's currently coaching a national title contender. I'm not sure how willing he'd be to leave that.

North Carolina is North Carolina, though.

North Carolina may not be the only blue blood looking for a new coach

The North Carolina job may not be the only opening at a blue blood this offseason, and no, you don't have to worry, I'm not talking about Izzo and Michigan State.

There are rumors circulating like wildfire on social media and hints from insiders about the immediate future of Bill Self at Kansas. Many believe that he's going to retire this offseason, but that's all speculation right now. Self is just 63 years old, but he'd be following a trend of coaches with a lot left in the tank (Jay Wright, Brad Stevens, Bruce Pearl, and Tony Bennett) who decided to retire from coaching -- I do think Stevens eventually comes back.

Kansas and North Carolina both looking for a new head coach in the same offseason could set off an insane domino effect that could affect several major programs.

One of those programs could reside in Ann Arbor.
