Pat Fitzgerald and Michigan State are working hard to land some of the top in-state recruits in the 2027 class like Gideon Gash and Myles Smith (potentially) but they’re not stopping there.
The Spartans have already landed Jack Carlson and Grant Adloff, but their offensive line class might just be very Michigan-heavy if the current trend holds up. The Spartans have two in-state offensive linemen committed but that could very well turn into three very soon.
Three-star Drew Aagesen is a name to watch, but somehow flying under the radar is impressive three-star offensive tackle Jameer Henry from Detroit King. He’s big on Michigan State and it feels like the Spartans are in a great spot with him despite him getting pushed by a top SEC program.
According to Michigan State recruiting insider Jason Killop, Henry is projected to land at Michigan State over Missouri who’s been pushing hard for him.
This prediction comes about 2.5 months after well-connected Midwest recruiting expert Allen Trieu (who’s 40-for-40 on predictions) also picked Michigan State to land the Detroit-based offensive tackle. Michigan is reportedly the other threat to land him, but the Spartans have taken the lead as the favorite, per On3, despite him receiving interest from USC, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Colorado.
No visit has been scheduled yet, but I’d assume that happens in the near future and when he is in East Lansing, he’ll obviously be on commit watch considering MSU is the favorite.
Henry is ranked On3’s No. 503 recruit in the 2027 class and the ninth-best in-state prospect.
Michigan State recruiting could use a shot in the arm
Sitting by and watching Michigan’s recruiting class fill up with four-star recruits over the past month has been tough and the cherry on top was watching a three-star in-state target troll Michigan State only to pick Michigan during his commitment ceremony.
It’s time that Michigan State sees some recruiting success and I think that’s coming with official visits beginning next weekend. The program could use some positive momentum.
Spring was kind to Michigan State as the class tripled in size, but it’s still just at seven. It is led by a four-star defensive lineman in Ohimai Ozolua and the No. 505 prospect in the class in Jack Carlson, but that’s not going to be enough to compete in the Big Ten right now. The class needs a boost. Henry can be part of that with a commitment over the next month.
Henry’s lone official visit is currently scheduled with Missouri for May 29, but judging by these recent expert predictions, I’d only assume Michigan State locks one in with him soon.
I wouldn’t say this is commit watch just yet, but Henry is a recruit to monitor.
