There was a flurry of recruiting news for Michigan State on Tuesday as the Spartans saw eight of their targets in the Field of 68's new "top 68" recruits in the 2027 class, a visit was locked in with one of those targets, and Tom Izzo added another target to his recruiting board.
The 2027 recruiting board has been expanding quite a bit lately and Izzo offered his first power forward in the class on Tuesday evening.
Jayon Connor, a four-star power forward in the 2027 class, has been soaring up recruiting boards lately, going from his first-ever ranking in the 150-range all the way to No. 99.
Over the past two days alone, Connor has received seven offers from the likes of Tennessee, Virginia Tech, USC, UConn, Illinois, Providence, and Georgia Tech. He's been exploding in the recruiting ranks and he already held offers from Houston, Texas A&M, and Wake Forest.
This may seem like a "lower-ranked offer" considering who else Izzo is targeting in the class, but his recent offers tell the story of just how good he is. He's going to be receiving a ton more offers as the rest of the nation sees who has been targeting Connor. Dan Hurley, Izzo, and Brad Underwood know talent and the rest of the country will follow suit.
Izzo fortunately got in ealy on Connor and the relationship he develops with the top-100 power forward is going to pay off when he skyrockets in the rankings again.
Michigan State's 2027 big board is exciting
The Spartans' big board for the 2027 class has been expanding rapidly over the past few weeks as Izzo got time to watch some film and identify who he believed to be his next OKGs.
Izzo just schedule a visit with top-35 point guard Jaxson Davis in October, he offered top-50 point guard Antonio Pemberton earlier this month, Joshua Tyson has joined the list of offers, Jadyn Jenkins has been offered, Kamsi Awaka and Jordan Page have joined the group of potential offers as well.
Michigan State is working on that 2027 recruiting class and fans should have high hotes.
