If you were hoping for some good injury news ahead of Saturday’s Minnesota vs. Michigan State football game, you may have to wait another week for that as the Spartans will be down some key starters against the Gophers.
The Spartans will be without nearly two dozen players on Saturday afternoon in Minneapolis, but four of those are new to the injury report this week and they also happen to be starters.
According to the availability report that was put out on Saturday afternoon, Michigan State will be without Makhi Frazier, Chrishon McCray, Ben Roberts, and Stanton Ramil. On top of that, starters Ade Willie and Kristian Phillips will also be out, but not for the season.

Being down four more starters on Saturday is not ideal for Michigan State’s “upset” efforts, but the Spartans will have to adopt the ‘next man up’ mentality.
However, with all of the players out, there might not be a next man up. The Spartans are down nearly two dozen players, so the depth is already running out — especially since they’re limited with the amount of players that travel with the team.
With Ramil and Phillips out again, that means the Spartans are down four different starting offensive linemen as Luka Vincic and Ashton Lepo are out for the season.
As for Roberts, he was listed as doubtful this week and his absence will be a big blow to the defensive line. Ru’Quan Buckley will also be out on Saturday which means the defensive line will be incredibly thin, too.
Minnesota will also be down a key player as star running back Darius Taylor is out.
We’ll see how these absences affect both teams on Saturday.
