The first game of the 2025 Michigan State football season is almost upon us.

We are mere hours from kicking off the 2025 Spartan regular season with a Western Michigan showdown in East Lansing, and it's a chance for Jonathan Smith to prove himself.

Year one of Smith didn't quite go as planned, finishing 5-7 with a 1-4 finish in the final five games after a 4-3 start. Everything was looking up after that Iowa win at home, only for it to all come crashing down in the following weeks against Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Rutgers. It was a nightmare finish to a promising year, and it really tarnished all the good Smith built in the first seven games.

Now, the Spartans have a chance to bounce back and prove doubters wrong again as Vegas projects 5.5 wins for the Spartans and I'm taking that over.

Before we can really do a deep dive into the 2025 schedule before tomorrow night's game, let's take a look at the schedule of events that the school released on Thursday afternoon, including when certain lots will be opened for tailgating.

As you can see, some lots will open at 11 a.m. ET on Friday for tailgating while the rest will open at 2 p.m. ET. After that, the Munn Tailgate will return at 3 p.m. followed by the Spartan Walk at 4:45 and then student section and MSUFCU club seats opening up at 5 p.m.

All gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and the team will take the field right before 7 p.m. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m., so make sure to be in your seats (whether at home or at Spartan Stadium) in time.

Busy day in East Lansing on Friday. Buckle up, Spartan fans.
