One of the first commits in Michigan State football's 2026 class was an underrated three-star quarterback from Grand Rapids, Mich., by the name of Kayd Coffman.

Not many fans knew much about him, but it didn't take long before he started sky-rocketing up recruiting boards. He went from a little-known three-star quarterback from Michigan to a four-star recruit and the No. 25 quarterback in the country, according to the composite rankings.

Coffman earned that fourth star and has never looked back, impressing recruiting experts everywhere, and it looks like his national ranking could be on the rise again soon, if he continues to dominate opponents during his senior year at East Kentwood.

The senior MSU commit had his first game of the 2025 season over the weekend, and all he did was dominate Southfield A&T to the tune of 311 yards and four touchdowns with only three incompletions.

Not only did Coffman have more touchdowns than he had incompletions, but he averaged about 30 yards per completion which is just an insane line. The highlight clip above also started with one of the most impressive throws you're going to see from a high school quarterback. He rolled to his right, located his target streaking toward the end zone, and hit him 45 yards down the field on the run.

Not many quarterbacks can throw on the run with accuracy like that, especially not 45 yards downfield.

It's still early in his senior year, and A&T may not have been the best competition, but these types of throws are a prime example of why I believe Coffman has a chance to be special.
