New Michigan State football commit Adam Shaw had himself a busy month.

First, he took a trip to Rutgers to kick off official visit season. He committed to the Scarlet Knights right after the visit. Then he had trips planned to Pitt and Michigan State that he had to cancel following his commitment. Jonathan Smith must've gotten on the phone to convince him to take the trip to East Lansing anyways and he decommitted from Rutgers on June 11 and visited Michigan State two days later.

Obviously all signs were pointing to a commitment after he made these decisions and he did just that on Tuesday, picking Michigan State where both of his parents played college athletics.

Adam's dad, Scott Shaw, played for the Spartans in the early 2000s and his mom was the MVP for the field hockey team. He originally decided to play for Greg Schiano and Rutgers but flipped his commitment after speaking with his family and the coaching staff.

Now, he's going to be able to play on the same field that his dad did.

Shaw plays quarterback at the high school level where he's a dual-threat and accounted for over 2,000 total yards and over 20 total touchdowns last season but he's admitted that he's ready to play whatever position he needs to in order to help his team win. And if that means converting to linebacker at the collegiate level, so be it.

247Sports ranks Shaw as the No. 47 linebacker in the 2026 class and the No. 16 prospect from the state of New Jersey. He joins a class that has soared into the top 25 nationally over the past three weeks.
