Saturday is a big night for Michigan State football as the reeling Spartans host 5-2 Michigan which is coming off a dominant win over Washington last weekend.
Michigan State lost to Indiana a week ago, but the 38-13 loss to the Hoosiers didn’t feel quite as lopsided as it was — at least not early on. The Spartans actually held a 10-7 lead in the firstt half before giving up two straight touchdowns to fall behind 21-10.
The Spartans never got closer, losing by 25, but Aidan Chiles played well, and the team remained healthy, for the most part.
On Saturday, just hours before the Michigan game, the Spartans released their availability report, along with the Wolverines. There’s another key player out this week, but two starters are returning.

Who’s back? Nikai Martinez and Stanton Ramil will return on Saturday night, but Kristian Phillips is out which means the offensive line gains a starter and loses a guy with starting experience. Add that to Ashton Lepo and Luka Vincic being out for the season, and the line has taken its fair share of hits.
Jayden Savoury and Alante Brown are still out, which is disappointing for the offense, but there are no other surprises on this week’s report.
As for Michigan, Justice Haynes is listed as questionable, which is big news considering he’s the Wolverines’ leading rusher, and one of the best running backs in the country.
Michigan State will have its hands full on Saturday night, but the Wolverines are just as beat up as the Spartans. We’ll see if that levels the playing field.
