Jonathan Smith and Michigan State football have been recruiting like crazy over the past month and a half boosting their 2026 recruiting class from the 70-range to the top 25 nationally.
The Spartans had just four commits heading into official visit season and they've since landed 18 prospects. They've been knocking official visits out of the park and they look like one of the hottest programs in the country on the recruiting trail.
While the class is coming together nicely, there are only a handful of four-stars committed to the green and white which is why Michigan State's class isn't ranked higher.
Well, they added a new four-star to the mix on Wednesday as 247Sports updated their recruiting rankings and one of the most recent commits got a nice little boost.
Samson Gash, a former three-star receiver from Novi, Mich., just saw his ratings get a nice boost. He went from a higher three-stars to a four-star rating on 247Sports.
As recent as June 6, Gash was just an 87 rated recruit which is a higher three-star, and then he got a boost to an 89 overall which is the highest three-star that you can be without being a four-star. On Wednesday, however, he got that extra point, boosting him to a four-star and the highest-ranked commit in Michigan State's class by 247Sports ranking alone.
Gash is now ranked the No. 46 receiver in the country and No. 4 recruit from the state of Michigan. He chose the Spartans over Kalen DeBoer and Alabama.
Smith is going to have to continue recruiting him if he wants to keep him in the 2026 class.
