Another weekend, another slew of commitments for Michigan State football.

The Spartans got better once again over the weekend, landing commitments from an ACC flip, a prospect from Washington's backyard (quite literally), and a top Auburn target.

Jonathan Smith flipped Jordan Vann from Virginia, landed near-four-star edge rusher Fameitau Siale over Washington despite living right down the street from campus, and picked up a commitment from three-star cornerback TJ Umenyiora over the likes of Auburn and Mississippi State.

If the name Umenyiora sounds familiar, it's because he's the son of an elite athlete.

Umenyiora is the son of former Giants star defensive end Osi Umenyiora who was drafted back in 2003 and played 12 years in the NFL, making two Pro Bowls in the process. To say that TJ has some good athletic genes would be an understatement.

Feel old yet?

The younger Umenyiora isn't the highest-rated recruit in the 2026 class, ranked No. 1,091 nationally, but 247Sports is higher on him than the composite, listing him as the No. 63 cornerback in the class and rating him an 87 overall (89 is usually four-star status).

The Roswell, Ga., native just visited East Lansing on June 6 with his dad and loved what he saw, saying "no thanks" to the likes of Auburn, Mississippi State, and Northwestern which were the three schools he officially visited. He was fresh off an Auburn visit on June 10 before committing to Michigan State over the weekend.

Whatever Smith is doing on the recruiting trail is working because these recruits are buying in in droves. He has pieced together a top 25 class after finishing 5-7 in year one.

Now just imagine what he can do with a winning season.
